SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS, in conjunction with carbon offset provider Climate Friendly, is once again giving punters the opportunity to neutralise their carbon footprint by purchasing a Green Ticket.
Those of you intending to buy a Green (or Carbon Offset) Ticket REALLY need to read the following important points:
You need to do this to make sure that the people who are paying for the Carbon Offset get their name on the Green Ticket.
Punters can opt to contribute an extra $7 of coinage on top of the regular event ticket price to upgrade to a Green Ticket, AND by default go in the running to win one of four Splendour in the Grass ‘08 hoodies. The winners will be randomly selected from the Green Ticket sales database held by the ticketing administrators, Qjump. Tickets go on sale on Thursday the 22nd of May at 9am EST via www.qjump.com.au only.
This extra $7 equals 144kg of carbon NEUTRALISED, making individual patrons carbon neutral for their two-day Splendour adventure (not just for travel emissions, but for all your carbon related activity).
Our goal is to make Splendour 100% carbon neutral and we believe we can go close to achieving this goal in 2008 with the support of our punters. To find out more about becoming carbon neutral visit www.climatefriendly.com
In keeping with SPLENDOUR IN THE GRASS tradition, each year event organisers handpick a local community organisation to be the beneficiary of funds raised through a $2.00 (per event ticket) contribution from every event ticket sold. This year the Splendour crew will split proceeds of these contributions between the Byron Bay Hospital and WIRES Northern Rivers. The hospital auxiliary will use the funds to purchase much-needed surgical equipment (an electrosurgical generator and an argon plasma coagulation unit) for the hospital, while WIRES (Wildlife Information and Rescue Service) will use their funds for ongoing public education and awareness campaigns and to purchase portable enclosures to be used in the rescue and care of injured wildlife within the shire.
