Sydney merrymakers Van She are set to make long-awaited album debut this August in the shape of the flying V. A sweeping, grandiose, and at times out there but essentially pop album, V is the wonderfully assured debut by a band with an effortless knack for a hook, a fascination with teenage love and lust, and an unrequited love for the sounds of space and some other time.

Recorded in London with renowned UK produced Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Ladytron, Kasabian) the debut will include cosmic stomper Cat & The Eye, the punchy atom-bomb pop of Strangers, a reworked version of their lost John Huges film hit Kelly and a string of other wonderfully varied excursions in modern pop that give a brilliant snapshot of what music can be for today and tomorrow.

In preparation for their album release, Van She are ready to showoff their studio tans and kick out their newest jams on the Van She Party tour in July. A hybrid live/DJ tour, the Van She Party tour will see the smartarse gents not only showcase their new live set featuring tracks from their forthcoming album V, but also step out from behind the instruments to DJ some tricky techno and a selection of their globally notorious remixes.

For the tour Modular and Van She have curated a night of performances and DJ sets by friends and comrades at every stop, designed to create the kind of frivolous, no holds barred party atmosphere akin to that of nights like Radio Soulwax, Trash and Optimo – where one comes for the music, but stays for the vibez, all night long.

Van She’s crackerjack new single, Strangers, is released just prior to the tour, on June 21, while V gets it’s long awaited release on August 9. Before then you can catch Van She spooning their electro psychedelic-stormers out by the mouthful this Thursday at a FREE GIG for Triple J’s Home & Hosed on Thursday 29 May at Sydney’s Annandale Hotel, the We Love Sounds Festival & support for The Bravery in June & climaxing with a main stage slot at Splendour In The Grass in August.

Supporting the Van She Party nationally except for Queensland will be The Dirty Secrets, with the likes of Ajax, Dangerous Dan and Andee Van Damage signing on and strapping in for various stops throughout the party circuit. Tickets are on sale now – Van She Party tour is presented by InTheMix & MTV.
