After undoubtedly one of the biggest Pretty Simple shows of 2007, Get Physical’s poster boy, Jona, returns to Melbourne to deliver another spell binding set in the lush surroundings of Ffour.

The young man from Liege, a small country town in Belgium, saw his popularity soar dramatically over 2007/2008, amplified by his constant focus on exploring new ways of sounding. Jona’s simple musical theory is based on ‘making emotions talk’. And the world of electronic music is talking.

Jona’s recordings on labels such as Strobe, Fumakilla, Toys for Boys, Resopal Schallware and of course Berlin’s Get Physical have received much attention. He’s also recorded under the alias Carsen Denaso and Fandango, with recent work on projects for M.A.N.D.Y., Bookashade, Daso and many others. Currently, Jona’s focus is on his first solo album, to be released on Get Physical, with two fresh dance floor cuts also just signed to Carl Craig’s Planet E. The Planet E release, entitled Altiplano, is obviously significant to Jona, who has always held the deepest of respects for Carl Craig and the huge influence he’s had on the Belgian’s music.

Not only shining as an upcoming producer, his show last year @ Pretty Simple; certified him as a DJ of the highest ilk. The most impressive feature about a Jona set is that he possesses such a great range, moving from deep house to tech house to techno with ease and precision. The groove he achieves with his warm melodic baselines were evident in last years set @ Ffour and his performance is still being talked about as one of the shows of 2007. As a young raver in his mid teens, Jona has an ability to engage extremely well with his crowd having a deep understanding of dance floor dynamics. His ability to keep building and layering a set till he reaches his optimum peak has to be seen to be believed.

Due to Jona’s massive touring schedule this will be his only exclusive Melbourne appearance.
